1. Background
The Joint Programme on Women, Peace, and Protection (WPP) aims to enhance women’s participation in peacebuilding, strengthen gender-responsive policies, and improve protection mechanisms for women and marginalized groups in Somalia. The programme is implemented by MoWFAHRD in collaboration with UNDP and other partners.
To ensure effective implementation, MoWFAHRD seeks a Project Coordinator to oversee programme activities, stakeholder engagement, and reporting.
2. Key Responsibilities
Programme Coordination & Implementation
- Lead the planning and execution of WPP activities in alignment with the project’s objectives.
- Facilitate coordination between government ministries, civil society, and community stakeholders.
- Organize quarterly meetings, workshops, and capacity-building sessions.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
- Strengthen partnerships with key actors, including the Ministry of Justice, women’s networks, and traditional leaders.
- Advocate for gender-responsive policies and women’s participation in peace processes.
Operational & Financial Management
- Monitor project expenditures and ensure compliance with UNDP financial regulations.
- Supervise the implementation of psychosocial support services and One-Stop Centers (OSCs).
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare progress reports, meeting minutes, and activity documentation for UNDP and MoWFAHRD.
- Ensure timely submission of quarterly financial and narrative reports.
Monitoring & Compliance
- Track project milestones and address implementation challenges.
- Support audits and evaluations as required by UNDP.
3. Qualifications & Competencies
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Law, Social Sciences, or related fields.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in women’s rights, peacebuilding, or governance.
- Proven experience in stakeholder coordination and government engagement.
- Familiarity with UNDP or UN-funded projects is an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication (English and Somali) and report-writing abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Gender Commitment:
- Demonstrated commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
4. Contract Details
- Duration: 5 months (renewable based on performance and funding).
- Duty Station: Baidoa, Southwest State, with travel to project sites.
- Reporting Line: Reports to the Director of MoWFAHRD.
